Every school morning, thousands of Zimbabwean children walk along or cross busy roads to reach school. Many of these children are quite small, making them difficult for motorists to see, and they often have little control over the dangers that surround them as they navigate their way to education.
In Q1 2025 alone, Zimbabwe recorded 12,808 road crashes, 2,599 injuries and 464 deaths. This alarming statistic highlights the urgent need for increased safety measures. At the same time, Zimbabwe has approximately 4.7 million school pupils, with many children—particularly in rural communities—walking long distances to school each day, often facing hazardous conditions along the way.
That is why Nikoma Industries has chosen to focus on junior reflective vests. These vests are designed to enhance visibility and provide an extra layer of safety for our young ones as they make their way to and from school.
We cannot remove every danger from our roads, but we can help make our children more visible to drivers, thereby reducing the risk of accidents and ensuring that they arrive safely at their destinations.
